2023 Christmas message from the President

2023 Christmas message from the President

I'd like to wish the growing Mulgrave Football Club community a very Merry Christmas. I hope you all get some time off and really enjoy the Christmas break.

2023 has been an outstanding year for the club, starting with some significant recruits and ending up with all three teams making into the finals for the first time In a very long time.

We were also able to move back home and get into the new pavilion at Mulgrave Reserve. It's not perfect and we are still working with council on some adjustments, but what we have now is new, clean and really fit for purpose... it's just a nice place to be and it will get better.

The players have already been on the park for pre-season training. Numbers look really strong and the footy department has been working hard on some new recruits to continue to improve our on-field performance. More importantly we have a great group of players and coaches who are all there for the right reasons. Good culture is hard to define, but we have something brewing and everyone is really looking forward to the start of 2024.

Off the field we are still down on volunteer depth. Too much gets simply gets done by too few. We need more of you out there to be prepared to just do a little. We are very specific about our job allocations, so there is a job that suits everyone’s time capabilities.

The committee will be taking a few weeks off and will be back for a formal committee meeting on January 23rd. The 2023 AGM will be held at Mulgrave Reserve on Friday February 2nd, post a training session. Everyone is welcome to drop in and check on how we are going.

As we bring 2023 to a close, I also wanted to thank all of our sponsors who just keep putting their hands up and making it all possible. We have a strong and active group.

Also, I wanted to thank our coterie group, the Mully Grubs, who have made such a difference to the club over the last four years by supporting us socially and financially and bringing a great group of people back to the club. If you are not a member of the Grubs, please reach out and find out more about them. The Mully Grubs Golf Day is on Friday February 23rd and will be another sold-out event. We are going a bit early so the players all get to enjoy it as well. Don’t procrastinate or you will miss out!

Stay safe, enjoy the holidays and we hope to see you all in Season 2024.
